Add audio from another video or an MP3 or WAV file to a clip, create a key slide listing your annotations, and pick any annotation colour.

In 3.4 there have been a few additions to annotations. Firstly a new audio replacement annotation has been added, allowing you to add different audio to clips. The ability to add a key frame has been added, along with expanded colour selections.

Using the new audio replacement annotation you can now add audio from video sources within Kinesense or external mp3 or wav files.

The Audio Replacement window listing existing videos to take audio from.

Clicking on the audio replacement button will open the above window. There you will be able to choose between existing videos or import external images. For an existing video, click on one of the videos and select Next.

The Import Audio option with the chosen file’s name, date and duration.

For external audio, click the radio button beside Import Audio and then browse to the file you want. The name, date and duration of that file will appear below. Then select Next.

The next screen will give you an opportunity to play the audio you’re about to add and to choose the start and end time. This can be tweaked on the timeline too once the annotation has been added. When you have the correct piece of audio click Accept.

The audio annotation right-click menu with Move Start Here and Move End Here.

When the annotation is added to the timeline you can right click to edit it. Move Start Here and Move End Here will move the annotation along the timeline, retaining the length of the audio file. Start Annotation Here and End Annotation Here will change the length of the audio, allowing you to edit the length after you’ve added it to the timeline.

Adding a key slide adds an image to the video report containing information about the different annotations in the clip. To add a key slide click the Make Key Slide button one the right hand side. The Configure Annotation Key Slide window will appear. Any arrow, zoom or spotlight annotations you have added will automatically appear on the slide in the colour of your annotation. If you’ve named them then the name will also appear. You also have the option to change the font, font size, background colour and spacing. Once you’re happy with your slide click OK and that slide will appear in the video report. If you change your annotations, simply press the Make Key Slide button again and the key slide will be updated.

Use the ‘Picture-in-picture’ annotation with your new key slide to overlay it on your clip.

Colour picker

There are now even more options for colours in annotations. Clicking the colour button will bring up a colour choosing bar. The top row consists of a set number of colours. The bottom allows you to move along it and pick different shade and colours.
