This week on Kinesense: The Clarification Chronicles, we’re going to look at inverting an image, gamma correction and splitting channels.

Invert Invert button

A CCTV frame of a driveway before and after inverting it to a negative.

Inverting an image simply displays the negative of said image. There are no options for this.

Gamma Correction Gamma correction button

A backlit person and car before and after gamma correction brings out the detail in the shadows.

Gamma correction is a non-linear method of adjusting the brightness and contrast of an image to make certain user or over exposed features are visible.

The gamma correction options: gamma value, brightness change and red, green and blue channel checkboxes.

The gamma value and brightness change can be adjusted either using the sliders or arrow keys. To change which channels the gamma correction is applied to you can deselect red, green and blue.

Split Channel Split channel button

A street scene before and after splitting out the blue channel as black and white.

Split channel splits the image out into any of the red, green or blue channels.

The split channel options: red, green or blue channel, and To Black & White.

Select the button beside each option to change the channel. You can also change the image to black and white.
